Kalmar was invited to propose an alternative bridge solution when conventional designs proved too expensive for the client’s strict budget criteria. Our innovative approach included the use of Ductal, a super-strength concrete that requires less material and less labour on the bridge, thus cutting costs considerably. The New Zealand Institute of Building recognised the resourceful approach with an Award for Innovation.
