Middlemore Hospital Carpark

Completed October 2005

When one of Auckland’s largest hospitals urgently needed a multi-level car park, Kalmar introduced innovative construction techniques to ensure the highest quality and fastest turnaround. This was only the third project in New Zealand to utilise Climbfloor jacks, which enable the construction and lifting of cast in-situ post-tension floors with minimal formwork, cranes and labour. Our team achieved significant cantilevers with the post-tension design, facilitating the most efficient column layout. The final result was a crack-free, watertight structure that earned awards from the New Zealand Institute of Building and the New Zealand Concrete Society.
